Starting and joining a call

Meet now for an instant call, or join a booked session — and what happens during and after a call on Robin.

Robin has built-in video, so you never need to leave the app or share a personal meeting link. There are two ways onto a call: meet now for something spontaneous, or book ahead for a set time.

Meet now

Open a conversation with your practice partner and tap the call menu (the video button at the top). Choose Meet now and you'll drop straight into the session — Robin sets the call up for you.

Your partner sees a banner letting them know you're waiting, so they can join you in a tap. Meet-now is best when you're already chatting and want to jump on a quick call there and then.

Booking ahead

To set up a call for a specific time, you book one of your partner's session types. The full walkthrough is in Booking a call with a coach — pick a session, pick a time, and it's confirmed straight away.

Joining a booked session

Your booked sessions live under Sessions. When a call is close, it moves to a Ready to join section at the top of Upcoming — you can join from 10 minutes before the start, right up until the session window closes.

Open the session and tap Join session. You'll set up your camera and microphone on the next screen before you enter, so you can check you look and sound right first.

In the call

Calls run inside Robin. You've got the usual controls — mute, camera, screen-share, and leave.

If you'd like a written record, the coach hosting the session can turn on transcription during the call. It's off by default, and everyone on the call sees a clear banner while it's running — see Transcripts on Robin for how that works.

Left by accident? You can re-join while the session window is still open — just open the session again.

After the call

A couple of things happen on their own once you're done:

  • An entry is added to your logbook automatically for the time you practised. It's yours to finish — add your own tags so it counts the way your accreditation body needs. You'll get a nudge to do it.
  • A recap email goes to both of you a little while after the call, with a link to the transcript if you captured one.

Finding past calls

Every completed call is under Sessions → Past, with the date and how long it ran. Open one to see its details or its transcript.
